The Local Co-ordinators (LCs)

Six Local Co-ordinators (LCs) were selected, one for each of the six sites of the project. As heads of the Local Reference Groups (LRGs), Local Co-ordinators managed research and consultation operations in their sites. The convened the Local Reference Groups and discussed the various research instruments, reports and actions planned by the Halifax Research Team; they facilitated input of their LRG members and channeled it into the Halifax Research Team; they assisted focus group facilitators and interviewers with candidate selection; they assisted in the distribution of the surveys; they served as the liaison between the LRGs and the Halifax Research Team; and they made the logistical arrangements for the Townhall meetings and the Halifax Research Team members' on-site consultations with the respective LRG members.

Charlottetown: Cathy Ronahan, Employment/Career Counsellor with the PEI Association for Newcomers to Canada

Halifax: Carmen Celina Moncayo, who was the Cross-Cultural and Family Violence Coordinator for the Metropolitan Immigrant Settlement Association. Carmen Celina is currently the Manager of the Phoenix Prevention Program for Youth.

Fredericton: Renu Dhayagude, Co-ordinator of Programs, Multicultural Association of Fredericton

Moncton: Syprien Okana, Consultant, Okana-Solutions Marketing

Saint John: Luisa Montoya, Student Abroad Co-ordinator for the University of New Brunswick

Saint John's: Wendolyn Schlamp was the Resettlement Co-ordinator, Association of New Canadians (Newfoundland). Wendolyn is currently the Public Education Coordinator for the Restorative Justice Coalition of Newfoundland.
